Requirements for Washington EMS Certification

EMR - Emergency Medical Responder

To become an EMR in Washington you must, successfully complete a Washington State approved EMR program, pass the National Registry exams, and submit your application and license fees.

EMT - Emergency Medical Technician

To become an EMT in Washington you must, successfully complete a Washington State approved EMT program, pass the National Registry exams, and submit your application and license fees.

AEMT - Advanced Emergency Medical Technician

To become an AEMT in Washington you must, successfully complete a Washington State approved AEMT program, show proof of current EM license, pass the National Registry exams, and submit your application and license fees.

EMT-P - Paramedic

To become a Paramedic in Washington you must, be 18 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, successfully complete a Washington State approved Paramedic program, show proof of current EMT/AEMT license, pass the National Registry exams, and submit your application and license fees.
